Default Belt Sander - Belt Measurement ?

Hi, Normally l hang out on the metalwork & welding forum area but need to tap the knowledge base on how to measure a replacement belt on a pedestal mounted belt sander l've just picked up.

If l was to cut the belt and lay it flat out is this the belt length? Otherwise is it the measurement between pulley centres?

Sandpaperman has belts listed on his website at 1220mm x 150mm. I hope this is the right one as l can't find it in Blackwoods or Thomas Warburton locally.

    Cheers

    G'day Bad Fruit.

My belt sander uses a 1220 x 150 belt and 1220mm is the total length of the belt.

    Yes.

    Otherwise things would get complicated.

Different machines have different dia pulleys, so even with the same distance between centres would need different actual lengths of belts!
I may be weird, but I'm saving up to become eccentric.
