Porter cable have a machine that cuts all sizes including ff
I think the ff size biscuits use a smaller dia blade.

Have a makita, Was expensive but well worth it, at the time, though I tend to dowel more now after getting an ozzie jig.
If you have large biscuits you can cut them down to smaller sizes. I use pincers to do this and works fine
Diffrent size cutter for diffrent size biscuits , or reduce your depth of cut, and shape biscuit to suit

Correct. I have the Porter-Cable machine. It's not a major job but not something I would want to do continually in a production environment.

Do you need to change the cutters to do the small ff biscuits??

    Sorry about the confused message.

The machines comes with two cutters (little saw blades). The smallest of which is used for the FF biscuits. So yes, you do need to change the cutter. As I said, not a real big deal.

I have one of the cheapest biscuit jointers in UK which is indexed for 6 different biscuit depths.
The smallest is the 0 at 8mm but is also has settings for simplex & duplex biscuits at depths of 13 & 14.7mm.
The maximum plunge depth is 18mm so many chippies use biscuit jointers to undercut skirting boards when fitting laminate flooring to provide expansion/contraction space.

    Bob,

The external diameter of the blade is 50mm and the bore is 22mm.

    However, you should know that:
    • The blade alone is US$40 from Amazon (not that they ship tools here but know where I'm coming from).
    • You would need another depth stop on the turret to accomodate this blade.
    • Inside the housing there is a chip deflector that is moved when using the FF blade. I don't know how well chip collection would work without this but I imagine if you have a vacuum attached it would obviate the worst of the problems. See this link to the user manual.
So I don't know how useful this would be for you.

    Regards,

    Mark

I've got the porter cable it cuts 20, 10, 0, FF.

the FF does require a smaller blade change (Supplied)

    Zed,

I agree, the PC is a great machine. I've had mine for about three years.

Bob was wondering if the FF blade could be used in another machine, which is where my response was coming from.
