    Hi.

I checked. He uses a Dulux pressure pack matt black spray. I could do that myself but on screwing the screw in might damage the paint work on the screw (unless I bake it of course first which is going to happen!). I have yet to get to Bunnings to check what they have as suggested earlier.

    Thanks for the post.

Paint the screws with the same paint as the handles first and once installed in place, touch up any damaged sections by spaying the paint from the can into its lid and using a small artist brush to apply which are available from most hardware/paint shops. The screws are never really touched other than the initial fitting so I wouldn't go to too much effort coating them.

    Thanks for the post.
Even the baked ones can still chip.
Tip - it depends how many screws there are, and if they're tensioning into wood. If they are into wood, screw another screw almost all the way into the hole and the remove it and replace with a blackened screw and this reduces the chance of chipping

Can your blacksmith make rose head cut nails?

Get them finished the same, then pre-drill and tap them in with wooden block and hammer.

    Hi Jestar

I am sure he could. Not sure if they would visually suit but for another project that could be to way to go! I wonder what their 'holding' power is in hardwood (Jarrah or Victorian Ash) comparative to a screw?

    Thanks for idea.
