That must be a fairly unique hobby. Making Bonsai from native Aus trees.

The trailing Banksia throwaway for $4 and going on to win those prizes only goes to show,'One man's rubbish is another man's treasure.'

Well done and thanks for posting.

Fantastic. Love the instruction to "click on photo to enlarge". Or is it just me who finds that a funny instruction for photos of bonsai!

Reminds me of a local horticultural show some years back. There was a fantastic display of bonsai work, including some amazing pieces that were over a 100 years old. A large crowd were viewing the stand, and I ended up stuck behind a couple of old ladies who shuffled along the entire line of benches peering at everything.

When we got to the end of the display, one of the old dears turned to her friend and said "They're all a bit small aren't they?"........sigh

I know most of us think of exotics when it comes to Bonsai, but these are terrific!!

Of course on the down side - they'll never be big enough to be of any use to us as timber!

    Well maybe Doll's House Furniture!

Timber? Top 'em and drop 'em. We can run them through the toothpick mill.

Thanks for the link. Don't see much of it here. Perhaps there's just no venue for display.

I was invited to have a table at an Artisans' Exhibition. Took a box of tools and several wood carvings to work on. I remember working steadily to put a uniform surface of tool marks on some project. Two local women came by, stopped and watched for a minute.
One turned to the other and said: " Looks dreadfully tedious to me."
