Default Book recomendations - Table making

I'm looking at making a dinning table and I want it to be extendable, the type that open in the centre and the extra leaves fold out from underneath.

I'm looking for a book that explains how to make tables in such a way that you can then customise them or design your own rather than a pattern book.

    Okay woodies - suggest away

BTW I'm making one because 8 seaters converting to 12 seaters don't exist, or cost more than the house.

No ideas on books but a tip for you
We recently purchased an extendable dining table. It extends from a 1x5x1m rectangle to a 1.5x1.5 square. Which is really usefull. But the most important factor in our decision was the way it extends.

Most extendable tables simple use a sliding top whilst the legs remain in place. This means that some people get stuck with the legs of the table in the way.

This table we bought actually extends legs and all, with the drop leaf coming up into the middle. It seems strong enough, although the construction is rather complex. I can show a picture of the running gear if you like. It was from fantastic furniture.
    Cheers,

    Adam

If it helps, some of the guys on here gave me useful advice a while back on how to do extending tables - have a look at http://www.woodworkforums.ubeaut.com...ead.php?t=6596.

Somebody in that lot recommended this book - "Encyclopedia of Furniture Making" by Ernest Joyce

    Default Dutch sliding tables

There is a paln in a site called Plans Now in Print and also one in the Fine Woodworking download plans from a design by Tage Frid. They cost about $10 to download.
