    Default Built In Wardrobe Plan

Does any one know where I could find plans for built in wardrobes. I need to build 1 straight along a wall the width of the room and 1 'L' shape. Need to have sliding doors as rooms are not large enough for standard doors.

I dont think you would be able to find plans for exactly what you want, but there are many of us here that will be prepared to try and help you.
    Question i have are:
What material do you want it made from? White Melamin
Have you a sketch with measurements on.

You can design it using the system 32 principle, that way you can get a lot of fittings that you can use.
Try Hettich or hafele for doors they have downlaodable catalogues.

    Default Easy Built Ins

    Hi Gabrielle,

One approach would be to get Sliding Mirrored Doors specified for floor to ceiling height - there are plenty of manufacturers who do this especially for wardrobes.

Mount the track on the floor and ceiling along the shape of your wardrobe footprint - if you have carpet you may need to lay a plate underneath the bottom track.

For the Wall to Wall unit just set the doors as far as you want away from the "back" wall and you have instant wardrobe.
For the L shape you would need to attach an end panel on the exposed side, and maybe some posts for door stops.

For inside the robes you can build your own partitions and shelves out of composite board + accesories, as Guy suggested, with lots of Haefle/ Hettich hardware. These can include all sorts of shelves, racks and drawers. I like the wire basket drawers - they are particularly good use of space and great for small clothing items. This would all be very straight forward stuff to fabricate as it is just cutting and drilling board. The most complicated aspect would be fitting the drawers (which isn't really very hard).

Or you can use premade "Wardrobe Inserts". These are normally 16mm Melamine Boxes made to a set depth and height to fit inside a wardrobe such as the one described above. They come in all sorts of variations of shelf/ drawer combinations. Inserts can be used as vertical elements from which to hang clothes rails and other hardware. Ready made inserts are available from some home improvement retailers - these are also really good for ideas if you intend to make your own.

    Respect, all.
