Went bush camping and these followed me home.
Hi,
Some friends of ours have bought a bush block and we camped out there for the long weekend. I noticed some burls on the trees and mentioned they make great wooden bowls. The lady reckoned a nice bowl from one of their own trees would be great when they get the house up. Had the chainsaw started before she changed her mind. The small one is ghost gum and the big one is a stringy barked thing of some kind. Not really sure. Anyhow as the big one is too big for my lathe to do it justice I am now thinking perhaps a couple of live edge side table tops instead. I think cutting it up for a couple of manageable bowls on my lathe would not be making the best of it's look. Guess next time back there I can get one a bit smaller. So looking for opinions.
Regards
John
