Wanting to Buy - 2xTV unit, Coffee Table Dinnng room table
Hi all,
Me and my other half went around Western Sydney last weekend looking for TV units. Didn't really find anything that we liked except this(Tasman) but it is a flat pack. I wanted to know has anyone got a good place to by a nice TV unit.
We are also looking for a coffee table which matches the Unit, A Square Dinning Table and chairs and corner TV unit. (all in dark wood)
Looking at some of the stores they are selling stuff for over $1000 :S is there anyway of cutting out the middle man, maybe finding someone to build it?
Should TV units be that much?

Try Wildwood Designs Timber & Wood Furniture including Australian Hardwood Dining Tables
If you want the unit, tables etc made in the one timber, I think they would make them up for you.

Is this Tasman made out of solid wood?

Have a look at one closely and you should be able to see if it is solid timber or not. I think its a coloured finish on that product so if it is solid timber, it will probably be a veneer or a paint process on solid particle board but check it out.
Reality is no background music.

Unfortunately this is the way most Australians think. Cut out the middle man and the maker will work for nothing. The people here all make quality products from (generally) Select grade timbers. As Lignum said, anything under $1200 is going to be veneer or something worse.
I could make you an entertainment unit like the one pictured for a mere $2000, and a Coffee table like that pictured for another $1800 and a square table for $3500 and chairs for a minimum of $400 each. Why so cheap? It's a labour of love.
Regards,
Rob
