Default CALL FOR HELP: Cabriole leg layout

I'm getting opposite advice depending on the sources I look at, so figured I'd put this one to the brains trust:

What is the preferred orientation of the (end)grain of a "riftsawn" leg blank for a cabriole leg?

Some reputable sources suggest the strongest and most aesthetically pleasing layout is to have the end grain oriented according to the example on the right, while others say the better option is the middle layout (no-one but madmen and anarchists like the orientation on the left):

When cut the legs above get a look like this: Which is better or more recommended?

They're supposed to be legs not cans o' worms, so hopefully there is an easy answer.

    Thanks in hope.

Although I am normally comfortable with the 'madman and anarchist' tag, I certainly agree that the left leg just ain't right!
Of the other 2, traditional wisdom is that the 'bullseye' on the middle one has short grain across the 'knee' which is the most vulnerable part for getting knocked AND the bullseye also attracts attention and distracts from the design and workmanship.
I have seen a coffee table with 4 bullseyes and it did look like 2 people standing together with holes in the knees of their jeans but my daughter could see Siamese twin frogs with BIG eyes!
the right ones get my vote ... Not that I have anything against Siamese twin frogs!

The one on the right looks the best of the three to my eye.

I must be a bit odd. I liked the centre one. Here is a coffee table made recently using cabriole legs with slipper feet.
