I thought it was cancelled?
There has been talk at our Men’s Sed about going to the Woodwoking Show in Melbourne on Friday and I see several sites have the details - including this one:
Timber Tools & Artisan Show (Aug 2023), Melbourne Australia - Trade Show
I thought I read here that it had been cancelled and the Phoenix Exhibitions site says ‘Date to be advised’.
Am I right in thinking that the sites still listing the site are wrong?

Hi Bruce - I’m fairly certain the the Brisbane show is the only one going ahead this year.

Definitely only the Brisbane show this year. They are hopeless at updating their website or replying to you if you contact them. Very poorly communicated.
Below is a clip from their Instagram page put up 3 days ago.

Some of those 'what's on" type sites just scrape other sources, phoenix may not even know it is there.

Melbourne Timber and Wood Show is DEFINITELY NOT on in Melbourne this weekend
Thanks to those who replied to my earlier message, and Candice from Phoenix Exhibitions has kindly confirmed to me that there is not a Timber and Woodworking Show starting in Melbourne on Friday.
The websites that continue to list the event are WRONG!

Bruce - thanks for following this up, which means I can also ignore any sites saying the Sydney show is going ahead as well. For Melbourne forumites, you have managed to prevent the terrible scenario of busloads of eager woodworkers turning up at an empty venue !
Communication from Phoenix Exhibitions has been pretty hit and miss at the best of times, and obviously COVID-related cancellations haven't helped in this regard.
Cheers

I'd be amazed if any of these wood shows come to futurition upon previous performance and cancellations!

It looks like Brisbane is going ahead... with 3 exhibitors? Seems that would be a bit sparse. No official replies on their Facebook page to people asking about other shows.

That seems unlikely. Probably safest to assume it isn't happening. The repeated cancellations, date changes, and poor communication have just about killed these shows stone dead IMHO.

A few aussie makers are heading over for the hand tool event in the US instead.
