Default Can't find the castor wheels that I want, very frustrating!

3am and being kept awake by the flu, so I'm going to vent and see if you can help a girl out..........

I have a few projects going and although one of the lovely forum members is going to make me some timber castors, I still want steel or cast iron castors for one of the other projects. I can't bloody find what I want, not in this country anyway (and I'm not paying over $100 to ship them here)!

I walked into a castor showroom in clayton (whom will remain nameless) and they are full of Nylon plus they weren't exactly friendly.

Here's an example of what I would like:

I'm thinking something around the 6" (150mm) size or bigger, probably rigid, if it's a shiny metal finish I can spray them to make them look vintage.

    Does anyone know a place?

    Thanks

I've bought castors from this joint and found them to be helpful and knowledgeable.

I know you said you don't want to buy overseas but these guys are cheap:

    Great Lakes Caster

and have a great website where you can search for exactly what you want.

We buy a lot of casters through richmond where I work. They are good quality but expensive, and they are really hard to deal with.

    Hi,
From the pictures you supplied I guess you could get a forum member to make the frame style part, just flat steel, This mob have the 6 inch cast iron wheels you want to put in them
Materials Handling - Cast Iron Wheels
    As does this mob
Active Lifting - Lemcol Cast Iron Wheels
And blackwood have them complete but with a flat plate on top.

    Hope these help.

Strangely enough, even Bunnings are getting into the act, they have cast iron wheeled castors, both fixed and swivel, but I think the wheels are only 3 or 4 inch (75-100mm), painted silver/grey.
