Sydney tools last I heard is family owned and I remember reading something about them not treating their staff very well (my memory could be wrong here). In any case, I once bought a Festool item from them and decided to return it for a different product since Festool have the 30day returns. I wasnt able to get an immediate refund - for items over $500 it needs to be manually processed by head office. I decided to not buy the next item from them and took my business elsewhere. It was a real pain in the ass to not have the funds purchase said item and to have to look out for that transaction in case someone at the head office made a mistake...

Bunnings came to Tamworth in the mid 90s. They moved into a large shed in the industrial area of town. Years later ( could be 10??) they built a new and bigger shed to supply the town. On the same block they put up a tilt-up shed for Repco and Pet Barn to be housed. May be 8?? years ago Total Tools moved into a shed opposite Bunnys then only last year Sydney Tools renovated the old Buttercup Bakery and moved in within spitting distance of Bunnys and Total Tools
Total Tools send me a brochure every day of their current sale. I wondered how both tool shops will go knowing they sell the same brands. I was expecting a "sales war" but Sydney Tools does not use the local radio station to advertise (Total Tools have the radio spots all to them selves) The local hardware store is the franchisee for Total Tools
Oh we also have a large Gasweld outlet who seem to be coping with these big hitters of the tool worldJust do it!
Kind regards Rod

Speaking from the Brisbane stores of both Sydney and Total Tools, there are some differences in inventory but for the items they both carry, the prices are pretty much identical. Even their sales are similar if not identical. Total Tools will match any promotion Sydney Tools has going on. I haven't seen any of the stores of either chain close yet... so they must be doing ok?

Over the many years I've spent about $8000 on veritas tools. Not a single penny has been spent at carbatec. The last time I bought something, the #10 rebate plane and fence, it was 30% cheaper to buy from Lee Valley. And it got to my door quicker than carbatec could do it. I've talked to both owners of Lee Valley and carbatec about the price discrepancy but best I don't write what they said here.
