Default Thoughts on the Carbatec Spiral cutter 10" thicknesser/jointer

    Hi Guys,
Has anyone had any experience with these jobbies? Looking to buy a combo, spiral prefferably.
    Appreciate your thoughts,

Can't comment on the machine it's self, but spiral cutter heads are excellent. A few months ago I replaced the heads in both my Buzzer and Thicknesser machines. The Buzzer got a chinese head and the Thicknesser got a Byrd head. The Byrd head gives the better finish. But both are far superior to the old 3 blade heads

I agree with Rod - I have just taken delivery of a machine with a spiral head cutter, and the difference is remarkable. Aside from giving a super-smooth finish, the noise levels have dropped dramatically.... it is fantastic. The dealer said that these are so popular for "hobbyists", that he fears he won't be able to sell the older machines that he has with a standard 3 blade cutterblock.

    cheers, regan

I have the carbatec thicknesser with the spiral head. Carba-Tec® 13" Spiral Head Thicknesser : CARBA-TEC

It is supurb. You still have to wear hearing protection, for it is still very loud, but the result it gives is excellent.
