the spline timber I had was 25mm wide and I got carried away with the saw blade height and didn't measure it so i accidentally cut the slot at 27mm so my spline timber was 2mm shy and I didn't want to trim that much excess of the chair arm. Luckily a colleague had a thin piece of tassie oak that he had finished with so I ran through the drum sander to get a proper fit. I didn't want to over sand And have them loose, yet not to snug that it would squeeze all the glue out.
