Does everyone remember when Woodwould introduced us to the term "horse sauce" for hide glue? WELL, the horse that was boiled down to make the glue l'm using on the slats would be still trying to finish the 1967 Melbourne Cup if it hadn't died of old age near the last turn in 2012! It is SO slow!

chairs
One brief note about your models-Get some curve on the width of the back. Nothing worse than a chair that your spine takes all the pressure of leaning back. Worst examples are nasty pine/Asian chairs designed to be made for a price -but seriously don't care if they are never used.

I had been working with a local upholsterer to make and cover the cushions with leather BUT, when the quote to do the work came to $4000, I needed a Plan B!
As I had done everything so far bar felling the tree, I decided that DIY was the way to go and thus the next Chapter begins, but in another thread......

The fat lady's singing......
The journey is finished except for handing the 6 chairs to my 3 daughters and for them to put the chairs with their matching tables. Today I finished the leather cushions, extracted the chairs from their hidey-holes and put them all together for the first time.
It has taken a few years but much of that time has been waiting for divine intervention to resolve the upholstery impasse. "Divine" didn't happen but "DIY" did. Thankyou for your interest and, to many of you, for your support.
I hope that these chairs, each one of which is named after one of my ancestors, will be cherished by those who follow me in the family,

feelin' good....
Tonight the first 2 chairs were united with their matching table at Number 1 daughter's. All daughters were present for the occassion......

These 2 are in memory of their Great, Great, Great Grandmother and Grandfather, Ellen and Magnus and the chairs are carved with their names.
It's going to be a BIG night!
