Talking Cheap MDF in Melbourne southeast

    Hi,

I'm looking for a place to buy cheap and good MDF around the Clayton area. Anyone know a good supplier?

I will be using it for a headboard. Is MDF a good choice for that?

    Cheers,
    Chris.

Try Tile Importers in Natalia Ave, Oakleigh. Cheapest I've found so far for a bunch of different timbers, just don't expect friendly cheerful service.

    Cheers,

    Justin.

Try Plyboard Distributors. They are on 196 Princess Higway, Dandenong (between Heatherton Rd and Dandenong)

I've recently gone through this process in sourcing cheap MDF.

The best place to start is in the Trading Post. Tile Importers, Dandenong Demolitions etc have ads each week. Good place to start comparing prices. Also look at the little ads, as this is where I found the best price.

I wasn't looking for first quality, as you are, as I was lining my new shed. Thats another story if anyone is interested.

The BOSS would not have agreed if I didn't find this place.

Commercial Sands in Lyndhurst (melways 129A1). They are recyclers. It a little bit of a drive but for 12mm - $12, 18mm - $18, all 2.7m long. These are packing sheets (originally 5.7m) so a few scratches, tire marks are expected. The belt sander worked wonders. Give them a call and ask for Ward, he looks after that part. They don't always have it.

But for one sheet, try some of the others with first quality but still cheaper than Bunnings prices.
