Guys, it's not his fault. I'm afraid that judging by his other post (he had 2 at the time of writing) Tallgrass is already doomed . It appears that he has been slowly consumed by Carnivorous Festoolius, or the Festool virus. Carnivorious Festoolius has been entrenched in the US for some time, particularly in Southern Californ-eye-aye, hence the high contamination rate, but as we know, it has also infected many people over here on the other side of the Pacific.

But to really answer your question, since you were eaten whole by the Aussies, that bib overall style you're talking about are made by a couple of companies here. They're a euro influence for sure. I never saw anything like them in Cali, although I think the company Skillers made something similar. Duluth Trading Company sold Skillers for a while, but I think dropped them shortly before Skillers went in the clearance boxes at every hardware store.

Don't you like Carhartt? Their cargo shorts were my favorite. I've switched to Hard Yakka brand since moving here (got to replace shorts as the Carhartt gets used up). It hasn't been my experience that you make more money showing up dressed like a slob, although you'll make more of a statement and possibly be more comfortable. I only work at all for money, so I dress like I like it, and they pay the monkey to dance. But then I fit into the aforementioned tool choice category, although I wouldn't go to Germany unless I had a fistful of free passes to Oktoberfest.

PS- remember Australia is the home of the Original elastic-sided slip-on work boot next time you ask a question about work attire!

General shed work:
Stubby footy shorts, steel cap boots, t-shirt and knee length leather apron.
Overalls or long daks along with long leather gloves for welding
Plus long sleeved shirt and chaps for chainsaw milling.

yup i am screwed by festoolitis......though i don't mind...it is one of those disorders that you are better for in the end. the bib overalls that i saw in Frankfurt just looked really comfortable and practical . as for my obvious retentive personality i am mechanical engineer who get lassoed into wood working projects by co-workers and neighbors ,since i am compensated for my work i feel a responsibility to those paying me to not show up like the proverbial butt crack plumber. i am not a pro at wood working i try to be tidy...the festool disease does not help....nothing like showing up with tidy tools and looking like the assistant for the man who owns the tools you are carrying........... the boots sound interesting i do not know what you guys are talking about....comfort over style i assume?

Steel capped boots that are tough, but I have never liked any footwear, let alone boots so have not tried them.

I used to like blundstones but now they have moved offshore I will never buy another pair. We need to show a bit of solidarity or the big end of town will never get the message.

Tall... maybe you were thinkin of those leaderhosen overalls? not comforatable at all my man in fact HARD STIFF LEATHER is a bitche to move in let alone work in so maybe they looked good on the local yobs but for work wear?... nah

So me I wear

Shorts... board shorts, croc hunter shorts by king gee, boxers WHATEVER
Longuns... long strides, croc hunter long daks by king gee, jeans, strides, suit strides WHATEVER
Shirs... t shirts, singlets, dress shirts long sleeved short sleeves WHATEVER
Oberalls... cut of sleeved oberalls, straight boilermaker oberalls and those farmer jones bib an brace oberalls, newies, oldies, dagies holeys WHATEVER

Now what you will notice is a general total disregard for what I am wearing before I go to the shed or for that matter where I am going AFTER Ive been to the shed... I will wear pretty much whatever I have on at the time

Another thing you may have noticed is the lack of footwear comments... thats due to the fack that I do not do footwear... ghastly things dangerous spitefull monsterous things no I dont do footwear... about the only time Ive been known to wear footwear is when it gets below 20C then cause me tootsies think theyre about to fall off I cover them with whatevers at hand...

But when Im out... like if someone I reckon mite actually buy something Ive made... well then I flash right up!! yep sure do... scrub up a bit of alright I do too but as to what I wear? Well whatevers clean and comes to hand first of course!!... SERIOUS!!... I do not discriminate a suit is as good as a pair of oberalls when your throwin epoxy around well it will cover your bod and thats the purpose of either as long as the googe doesnt get onto yer skin right? or the welds dont burn... ooh when Im welding? Well then I am a bit of a safety knut cause I cant stand pain got a phobia about it in fack probably cause Im allergic to all pain killers so I do go find and scrape out the redbacks little skinks an other bugs from the old steel caps ans bung em on me feets then for sure I will find a pair of oberalls and whack them on... but thats the only time I get really dressed for the work at hand

Any other time its whatever I have on when I escape out the back door and make it to the shed

In the Aussie tradition in the shed you wear what ever you got on... even if its the Sunday best it dont matter... long as SWMBO isnt looking

IMHO steer clear of those elastic sided steel caps they are bad for your feet and legs, ask a podiatrist.

At work 2mths ago one of my fellow workers lost his toes because he was wearing elastic sided boots(not applicable to our safety cause here tho!)instead of lace up's.
(Its a lead refinery... molten metal)He was up on a 200ton holding pan hood hooking up a crane to a lead pump, he stepped on a cover that sits over where the pump pipe goes into.
The cover slipped off and his leg went down the hole dipping his foot ankle deep into 580°C lead, the elastic melted instantly allowing the lead into the boot which caused a 360° burn to his foot... they were talking of amputating his foot but our company is lucky here in sth Oz we have one of the worlds best burns specialist unit who saved his foot but not his toes!

If he had been wearing lace up boots he would have still got burnt from the heat but would not have such serious skin damage, poor bugger is covered in skin graph scrapes every where as it took several goes to cover his foot as there was no skin left on it at all.
