compressor
Hi Guys
Came to ask a question and can not remember the details.
But I know it was about a cheap compressor I saw at Bunnings today.
$98,and 5.4 cfm (or something) 2 HP motor and rating of 80 to 120 (I think).
I would like to blow dust from my small shed and tools.Blow up the pushbike tires and maybe do the small spray job on a carving at times.
Do you guys think that this machine would do the job or should I look at something larger.
Regards Terry

Terry, for the tasks mentioned that compressor should do fine. Be aware that at that price it won't last long though. If it is GMC it may have a fair warranty on it, check though.
(edit: forgot to mention, if the carvings are small, up to head size, you should be ok. If you're doing tiki's or Easter Island faces then get a bigger unit)

I've got one of those, and have had it for over a year. To date, it has performed faultlessly, given the very light load that I put on it.
Worth $98, I'd say so!

I bought one from Supercheap for about $150, I had to replace the regulator. Now I have a "T" fitting coming from it, one line goes to the blower for when I want to clean something(full force of what is stored in the tank) and the other line goes through a new regulator for when I need to spray or nail.

For very basic jobs in the shed , (even spray painting if you take your time) , as mentioned above go for it , have had a small unit similar I think for 6/7 years , and still going fine , just check the sump oil level ( keep topped up to the right level , don't overfill ) and drain the tank regularly , should last for years

"Terry, just remember that the advice you receive may be worth what you pay for it!"
.........As long as you don't pick on their spelling! (sob)

Thanks guys
I understand what you are saying to me.
I have a shed full of quality machines and tools from bandsaw, pedistal drill routers all the way down to Pheil chisels for carving.
But when you start to look at it,and the amount of use some machines receive, this GMC two year warrenty looks very good.
Recently I had a 18 volt GMc battery drill and one battery was dead. On looking at the receipt I had 2 weeks left on the warrenty so returned the drill to bunnings and had it replaced no questions asked.
I find that hard to beat.
Regards Terry
