1. Build a stand to get your combo machine to a comfortable height.
2. Hire an engine lifter from kennards for the lift.
3. Be happy that you have not traded down to a bench top screamer.

I have the Hafco unit and it along with my router table are fixed to a 1000mm high table, no bending.

Thanks for all your suggestions
Well I finally made a decision to get a benchtop thicknesser. I went with the Sherwood Deluxe one from Timbecon and made a stand for it. For anyone reading this post still, here are a few pics. I though about running it lengthwise but then thought it would be better to have a bit of table-top either side to rest the timber as I'm passing various pieces through. All up, the stand cost about $40 in timber, $20 in Formply and about $35 in casters.
Thanks for all your suggestions / ideas / experiences. Much appreciated. Back to enjoying my woodworking.
