Crackers anyone?
Just finished this, Mountain ash, Jarrah, Purple heart cheese board, i'm happy (ish) with it, just wished I'd planned a bit better and made the strips in between the purple heart and the Jarrah slightly narrower. other than that, it came out ok. The minister loves it, so it can't be all that bad, yet I am my worst critic.
open to the floor now, please critique away.
it was sanded to 400,then oiled with liquid paraffin.

Very nice!
What did you use to plane/joint the edges with?
Which glue did you use?

It was run through the table saw first then ran edges over the jointer but made a small error by not running enough and there was a tiny gap on top left of Purple Heart where the little blue tab is in the pic, hence the corners cut at current angles. I then glued up using titebondII as no need to be waterproof, due to just being wiped over. If it falls apart in a year or two I will have learnt my lesson. I will for next round use titebond III, and I wasn't going to spend 45min driving out to get some from my nearest supplier. I glued a sacrificial pine rail on each side longer to allow for thicknesser divot, which hits the rails not the board. See pic.IMG_3324.jpg

Thanks Rob, I'm especially pleased the Purple Heart has beamed. I did one for a friend recently and used a rich red Renegas which after oiling was lost. Purple Heart can be a pain as I've heard some goes brown but I was told it will lose its colour once cut and sure enough it went pale lilac. But I was told to put in the sun and it will be brought back to life, so it sat for a few weeks (not in direct sun) catching a bit of sun and there she be, bright and beautiful rich purple.
