cutting 1/4" oak plywood for veneer
I am building a new desk and I am getting ready to add 1/4" red oak plywood to the top. The top is constructed out of 2x 3/4" 4-ply sheets of plywood screwed together. I need to cut the plywood and glue it to the top. I am concerned about getting the cut exact enough so that the fit will be clean. I will edge the top with 1/4" hardwood veneer when I am done, so the oak and regular plywood need to be quite flush on all sides.
The regular plywood base also needs to be finish cut to size, so I am tempted to over-cut the oak, glue it on, and then cut both to final size by cutting from bottom with a circular saw and fence, tape on the oak to help with chipping, etc. Another option would be to final cut the regular plywood, over-cut the oak, glue on the oak, and then trim with a router or saber saw. The last option is to carefully measure and cut both pieces before gluing together. I have no idea which option will give the best finish and prevent chipping in the oak.
I have a new plywood blade for my circular say, but I don't know if that is what I should use to cut the oak.
Any suggestions before I ruin my new desk?

Cut them both over size, then cut to finsh once they're stuck together.
