Cutting melamine without tearout
Hi all,
I have just about finished building our new kitchen, coming together nicely...but I digress. I have found a Freud saw blade that cuts melamine and leaves an absolutely beautiful edge, no tear out and as smooth as. I would swear the panels were cut with a panel saw and scorer if I hadn't cut them myself.
An expensive little fella at just under $200.00 but really worth it. The teeth are very very aggressive so the bugger will bite you if you aren't resepctfull enough. LU12MSSFB3, 250mm x 80T 38DEG.
Cheers,
Buzsaw.

You could make the cut twice. First a scoring cut on the bottom and then a full cut. Usually a 1mm deep scoring cut will do it. Unless the blade is really a poor blade, the top side of the cut should be just fine.
Usually, a sharp ATB with a 30 + degree bevel will suffice for cutting Melamine. Best is a tripple chip grind.
