    Default Cutting Veneer Plywood

Hey guys i hope im not posting in the wrong place.

I have just joined up and looking forward to learning alot. The first bit of advice i am after is about a veneer plywood desk that i have. It has a 160mm over hang that i would like to cut off as the desk is way too big for the room. The edges are at the back so wont be seen and i prob wont put and edge on it. However how do i cut this without splitting the veneer. I have a hand saw and a jigsaw but could buy a circular saw if needed as it will come in handy. So tape it up?? Clamp timber on each side and run jigsaw nice and slow?? Score the line that i want to cut to hopefully cut enough the saw finishes it off without splitting?

    Any advice would be great

Hi and welcome. The bet way to cut veneer is with a circular saw using a fine tooth blade and make sure the good side is face down. As the blade spins it cuts from the bottom up and so the top of the board being cut will splinter so have the good side facing down. If you are using a 7.25" circular have a 40 teeth blade.
    Hope this helps.

    Default Cutting Veneer Plywood

Hi and welcome. I feel the best way would be with a table saw fitted with a fine tooth blade. Clearly you don't have one
... but if you know someone with one it'd give you the best result. Alternatively, if you're able to get to Kilmore over the next few weeks we could do it on my machinery. Cheers.
