Donkey's ear shooting board
Hi guys,
I've used timber lying around the shed to whip up a shooting board for myself and whilst it's not pretty to look at, it does the job.
I'm looking to mitre some longer pieces of timber to make some boxes and have seen something called a donkey's ear addition to a shooting board. Has anyone heard of this or has made one ? Looking for plans or advice on how's one is put together.
Appreciate any advice or being steered in the right direction. Or even if some one has ideas about other ways to mitre longer pieces manually ?
Regards,
Scott

I made one for my shooting board. A little shorter than those shown in the link but effective none-the-less.
Does not get many outings but when you need it, you can't beat it.
Always a good accessory to have.Dragonfly

A donkey ear shooting board is great for fine tuning mitres for boxes etc. In addition to using a plane, I use a long block of wood to which I attach sanding paper for a final cleanup if necessary (just glue a strip of laminate along the botton to ride against the bottom edge of the shooting board).

Always curious about trimming mitres. Don't you end up chasing yourself in circles trying to get 2 pairs of sides of equal length
