Personally I've always had a devil of a time getting the double sided tape off after use. That might be because I bought cheap stuff, not sure.
So I used the masking tape and superglue method and have never looked back.
The only draw back is that 2 strips of blue tape and CA glue takes up 2mm or so.
If you can tell me of a specific brand of thin double sided tape that comes off nice and easy, I would give it a go. Otherwise I'll stick to the masking tape trick.

I use reject shop/$ shop double sided tape, its brilliant, thin and holds well, yet easy enough to pull apart when job is complete. although I have discovered, if left too long, it sort of disintegrates and a lot of rubbing is needed to remove the broken down tape.
