    Default Dovetailed drawers

Sorry to bore you again. I do enjoy making dovetailed drawers. I find it relaxing and satisfying. These are the latest.

Hand. No jigs in the world can do fine pins like these. It is not hard to tell. When the pins are so thin and close to the edge of the board then they are done by hand.

So I was feeling quite pleased with my efforts today, having finished my first half-blind's on a couple of drawers (in pine). I think I even got them tight enough that I could probably do without glue, even with my slightly wonky tails.

Now I feel inadequate . Very neat and tidy work there.

I can see he attraction though: relaxing work with a nice outcome at the end.

    Superb. Hat taken off..well done
And my head I'd be a scratchin'
While my thoughts were busy hatchin'
If I only had a brain.

Love those drawers. Not only do they look good, but the mechanical strength of dovetails is supremely practical. Like the 'Sturt' slips, too.

These 2 bedside tables are made from some recycled Tas Oak floorboards and all the odd pieces left from other projects. Tas Oak, Tas Blackwood, Silky Oak, Oregon, Tallowwood, Blackbutt, Spotted Gum, Red Gum, Sydney Blue Gum, Jarrah, US White Oak, Aus Red Cedar, Brush Box, Kwila, Fijian Mahogany. I think that's it.
