    Default Dowelling jig advice

May I receive advice on dowelling jigs please? Pros & cons, recommendations, avoidances, etc...
(I had a 'Joint Genie' which was fine, but it has gone missing and it seems the company no longer exports to Australia, the rotters).

Carbatec sells a self centering one. I found it quite good.

You'll be hard pressed to find a general consensus on whats a good dowel jig. It all depends on the intended application.

I've used dowel pins all the way up to the fancy, milescraft joint pro doweling jigs. If you've got the time and the patience they all work to varying degrees depending on the application.

Another vote for the Dowelmax. Every time I use it, the precision just amazes me. Somehow the process and the result feel very satisfying.

After looking at the video I posted I don't think the Dowelmax can be any more accurate TTTT.

    I love German woodworking videos
I have no clue what they're on about but they all look fake friendly and have nice small sheds that are always incredibly tidy LOL

the video that Chris linked to is basically flogging the German equivalent to Popular Woodworking or possibly Shop Notes.
I'm sure that if you look in a recent back issue you will find plans for the jig being demonstrated.

    Hi,
My favorite is the Oz i-jig, unfortunately no longer available.

I think they are a variant of these https://www.busybeetools.com/product...-sp6000x1.html which are a Makita part for their guide rails.
Festool make a version -- but don't ask the price
Bessy also make a version https://www.busybeetools.com/product...er-handle.html

Perhaps search McJings site for "table clamp" or "guide rail clamp"
