What sort of machine? For making dowels or for inserting them?
Those were the droids I was looking for.

Is it for joining anything in particular? And do you have a particular type of machine in mind?

You may be looking for a 'dowelling jig,' which clamps to the wood piece, allowing you to drill holes perpendicular to the timber face. They look a little something like:

we'll have to wait for Relic to return, but having used a biscuit jointer, Domino and helped use a doweling machine -- a biscuit jointer is IMO two leagues below where the Domino and doweler sit.

GMC produced and sold one for under $100 dollars (I think) before they went belly-up.

    Just found this example.

    Dear Relics,

Where you say that your location is "Southbank", which Southbank do you mean? (as in - which State?...)

If you're talking about the one up here in Brisbane, Queensland, I've got one of those GMC's that Kev is talking about, and it's in virtually unused condition. I'll send you a PM because it's probably a little bit naughty to talk dollars in this particular sub-forum. You could always start a post in the "Wanted to Buy" sub-forum too.

    Best Wishes,
    Batpig.

    Hi relics.
I have the GMC, referred to on previous replies.
I am quite happy with the machine. It took a little setting up, (fiddling) to get it right, but it works very well.
The allen key provided is CRAP, but cheap enough to replace.

If you can get hold of one, I would recommend it, at the price.

    Paul.
