Suggest you try Bolts and Industrial on Evans Rd. Salisbury.

May I suggest that whatever you purchase regarding Forstner bits, ensure that they are actually metric.
Last year I purchased the large metric kit of Forstner bits from Carba-Tec, unfortunately they are not metric. I subsequently found out after asking at the Melbourne store where I purchased them, that they know they are not metric.
They are still for sale and listed as metric, last time I was there. Maybe in time they will source a genuine metric set, I don't know.
I then set about looking for genuine metric Forstner bits, it appeared to be a bit of hit and miss in the lower end, price wise part of the market.
I haven't yet purchased a metric set, I will, just getting over a malaise which has been a problem all of last year. I also intend to take my metric set back to Carba-Tec.
I went to the Melbourne show last year with a small vernier in my pocket, I found one set by another supplier which was also not metric.

Whaddya mean, Crappytec Metric bits are not metric?
Of course thy're metric! They just happen to have very precise diameters like 6.35mm, 22.225mm or 31.75mm.
I guess this is the price we pay for the Yanks being the dominant importers - we get stuff at a cheaper price, but we don't get nice incremental sets of bits in metric whole-numbers. For 99% of what I do it doesn't matter - the only truly 'metric' bit in my entire collection is the 35mm forstner for sinking hinge holes. Usually, it's no hassle to size things to the drills I have, & so much of my stuff is still in Imperial sizes anyway, including my wood taps, that it's more of a convenience than a nuisance, but I can see how frustrating it is when you really need a size that doesn't have a close Imperial approximation.
I imagine there ARE 'proper' metric sets available, & they must make bits for Europe, so it is surprising our local chains don't get their act together & find some 'real' metric sets.......
HazzaB - are you SURE the bits you bought are 63mm and not 63.5mm (2.5")?
Cheers,IW
