    Default Drinks Trolley

I would like to build a fairly simple (I do not have any woodturning equipment) Drinks Trolley out of Tassie oak (to match the rest of our dinning room furniture) with 4 wheels for inside use. I do need a plan to work from but have been unable to find one anywhere. Can anyone tell where I might find a plan and/or building instructions? I have built desks and cupboards and most of a house so I can figure most things out but a picture would be good.

    Question Tea trolley pic

    Hi Grob,
I will attempt to attach a photo of a trolley similar to what you descibed, itn is one that I knocked together recently, the wheels are 50mm tea trolley wheels I obtained from a restration supplier, they are simple to fix as youn just drill a hole in the base of the legs and push them in.
No plans I'm afraid as I do most of this sort of thing out of a picture in my head.
The legs are 35mm square and the tray sides are 40x12, the base of the trays are 6mm ply. I made this out of walnut.
Notice I have fixed braces under the top tray, this is to stop movement when the thing is being pushed. also you may wish to consider if there are steps that the trolley will be pushed over, if so larger wheels will helpful.

    Have a go enjoy

Grob, I don't know how to fix a pic to this message so I will put it on the pics gallery I will call it Grobs trolley

    Default Drinks trolley

OOps! wrong type of drinks, I assumed from the "matching existing furniture" that it was an inside trolley for drinkies. the idea is still the same bigger casters, replace the trays with slats.

or use a wheel barrow (wooden of course). is this for a Barby on the patio/deck or a flashy entertaining type thing.

Thanks Taffy and Sprog for your replies.
Taffy - your picture is exactly what I was after - it is an inside trolley for drinks. I hope to make it out of Tassie oak to match the rest of our furniture in the diningroom.
Couple of questions: what is the size of each tray?
And what is the height of the 35mm square legs?
I assume you attached all the pieces with screws and glue.

    Default Grobs trolley

    Grob,
The legs, not counting casters, are 790x35x35 the Trays are 620x450. I built the trays as I would a draw, cut a groove in the sides for the ply bottoms, glued and srewed with brass srews.
Screwed the trays onto the legs.

    Default A Trolley at last

Thanks for all your help Taffy. Have just completed the project - see attached photo. I used tassie oak - as I am a novice I discovered the hard way that Tassie Oak is a hard wood!!
Dimensions very similar to yours - each tray was screwed & glued and then screwed and glued to the uprights.
The base of the tray is 4mm laminated (tassie oak) MDF. I routed a rebate into the under sides of the tray and then screwed the MDF in. I put a piece of Tassie oak under each tray to give the centre of the tray a bit more support.
Finished with a couple of coats of Feast Watson satinproof.
    Thanks again for your help.
