There's also the Cleanspace masks which, based only on price, are a step up from the powercap.
I was using the half face version every day for 3 months and the amount of junk it pulled out of the air was scary

Honestly the sad fact of the matter is can you afford not to devote more time/resources into dust extraction. Unfortunately only time will tell.
I was in a similar situation when i first started, spending loads of cash into machinery and avoiding dust collection. I ended up getting fed up with my setup and decided to bite the bullet. Honestly, when i set up my DC (and its still evolving) i find its the best investment in my shed. As not only does it saves me time by reducing my cleanup time, but makes my shed more efficient to work around as i don't have to constantly change the ducting setup. This also has inherited benefits of increasing machinery life as the moving air cools machinery, makes my shed a much safer environment as there are no more slip/trip hazards and makes me confident that working in my shed will be an enjoyable/long lasting hobby.
