I agree, Christos.
This price offered is not sensible but, quite possibly, the buyer will be happy. It would be a pity to spoil that.

When the thrill of the hunt sets in common sense goes out the window.
I spent a long time looking and bidding on planes that went for way more than the going rate. I then turned to antique shops and markets. The price is stated up front and no bad feelings afterwords. The trick with auctions is discipline. Have a set limit for the item and stick to it . If you miss that one then look again later.
Regards
John

Maybe he's got someone waiting to buy it, maybe he knows something the rest of us don't, but I think it's more likely he's an idiot who thinks someone will pay $350 for a bench, without a picture, brand, dimensions, description...Cheers, Richard

The listing says "Workmate", new in box. That conjures up enough for me to know what he's talking about. The $350 opening bid is pretty sporting-what do they fetch new?

Auctions
Quite a few years ago I saw a show on telly where a bunch of people were bidding on a Shaker cupboard. Oprah Winfrey was one of the bidders. I reckoned it was worth about 5 grand. Her winning bid was $250,000!!!
After a while you come to the depressing realisation that there are a lot of stupid people in this world.... and many of them are politicians.

And now we have a "Rare Veritas chisel plane" up for sale. Apparently it is a "Rare collector's item", but looks remarkably like their currently available invisible nailer kit which is obviously not particularly rare.
