EPL - info appreciated, used it, Aust name?
Hi, EPL is a US name for a specific deck/playground coating, see http://www.eplwoodcoating.com/.
The deck I've built (about 11metres by 4 metres) is surfaced with recycled tallow wood which is really tough (had to predrill all the holes to nail down decking). I've put about 3 coats of Feast and Watson Deck oil on the timber and it still splinters a lot.
What I'm interested in is, has anyone used EPL in Australia, on decks particularly? Also is there an Australian distributor and/or trade name.
As far as I can work out, EPL is a clear plastic exterior coating for wood that can be walked on and reduces splinters a fair bit. Is this correct in your experience?
Cheers
Peter

Never heard of that one.... it sounds like a PVA type substance though.

Peter have you sanded between coats? I know it sounds obvious, but when making oiled chopping boards, I've found the oiling 'raises' the grain somewhat, so continual sanding is needed until the timber has reached equilibrium???
I love my Lucas!! ...just ask me!
Allan.
