I think there's a BIG difference between "wanting them", and "being willing to pay for them"!

I grab the posts from demolished paling fences when I see them on the footpath, as I'll (one day) use them in a bench. But, the whole reason I want them is because they are FREE!

I've made a couple of bits out of palings, but again, the main reason was that they were free.

The other main use for ex-fences is firewood. Free firewood.

    Cheers,
    Andrew

Your carpenter buddy prolly meant that people would take them off your hands, not to burn them. I doubt anyone would wanna pay good money for them, unless they are in great shape. Well, not over this end of the world anyways.

My opinion is neither copyrighted nor trademarked, and its price is competitive. If you like, I'll trade for one of yours.

I always try and pick up free ones. But there was this guy who advertised them in the paper at $1 per paling. Maybe you could try advertising them for around that price. If there are no takers, no skin off your nose.

Are the fence palings old, weathered looking, no paint? If so, they make great pciture frames. I was asked to make such a frame recently and had to resort to driving around the neighbourhood looking for fences that were falling down, then asking the owners for 4 palings. Luckily he said yes or I might have had to resort to other means......
