The easy way would be to buy now before the tax changes come in.

Another vote for Axminster, they're great to deal with. The shipping can seem pricey but its really very fast, I had one shipment take less than 48 hours to go from Axminster-Perth.

it's the UPS (and FedEx) charges which make on-line purchases expensive here in Canada. It's not uncommon for UPS's or FedEx's "charges" to exceed the value of the goods. In reality it is just a profit line for UPS and FedEx as you can avoid the charges if you self clear (i.e. pay the applicable GST yourself). Curiously, there's no additional "charges" if the item is delivered by the postal service.

I got my Festool Domino from the UK a few months back. I got it sent to the inlaws though and they forwarded it onto me. I've registered it to their UK address for the warranty and it says that Festool will collect it in the event that it needs to go away under warranty. The fine print didn't define that it had to be picked up from a UK address though so I'll just explain that I had to move to Australia and there's no reason the warranty shouldn't cover me.
Its outrageous that these things cost so much more here when technically the only extra fee should be the shipping over a longer distance. Are Festool charging our retailers more than the UK retailers or are our retailers taking us for a ride?

this has been done to death. It's not only Festool, it's almost every thing we buy, including food. For example, fruit and vegetables in Switzerland are less expensive and higher quality than those sold in an Australian supermarket.
the bottom line is that Australia is a very high cost country, driven in the main by our retailing model -- do you know what Westfields, et al charge for rent in a retail mall? -- the high cost of land in our major cities and the relatively high wages paid to Australians.
The solution to the problem is so unpalatable that no one wants to consider it.regards from Alberta, Canada

Yeah I do get all that but I'm interested to know if Festool sell wholesale to an Australian retailer at a higher rate than a U.K. retailer. If so then obviously the Aus retailer are off to a disadvantaged start already and shame on Festool.
If not though, I find it hard to believe that the cost of doing retail business in Sydney is that more expensive than the cost of doing retail business in London.

It would be interesting to know if the retailers getting shafted by Festool with higher Wholesale print compared to the UK or other countries, i also noticed there is a end date on that ACCC legal pricing model they got approved, i'd like to see it challenged once its up for renewal.
If i place a large order, i should get a discount as i have in the past.
We do have a higher rents in Aussie, this is from a few years ago, Brisbane world's 10th most expensive city to rent retail space
there is also a lot of red tape here with operating a business, but still, i think we still get shafted

I'd say running a retail opperation is one of the very best ways to loose money. It is only beaten by running a restaurant.
