Fete or Fair Spinning Wheel
Making my MIL a new spinning wheel for her fund raising Biggest Cancer Morning Tea. There are a few ideas on the net however I wondering if anyone has plans for one of these or has made one and has any advise, suggestions etc?

Just looked on Google and found a few FREE plans, they looked OK too. One of the members of the Turning Club I'm in, made one with no plans, so they can't be that hard.

Try the search term "chocolate wheel plan" in Mr Google, this might reveal some more ideas.
I have seen very large nails as the prongs, and 1/4" bolts also used.
If the disc is MDF, bolts will be better.
Depending on how you intend to make the bearing part, you might score a used but still O.K rear wheel bearing from the local motor mechanics which could be fitted into a turned wooden block, or buy a '4 bolt' flange bearing from a bearing supplier, and ask for a chinese branded one, no need to pay top dollar for an industrial grade unit.
Just re-read your post, maybe I'm being a bit ambitious, you may only need a desktop size one, not the 1200mm jobby you see at fetes etc.
Either way, shouldn't be too hard to knock one up. The painting and numbering could be a bit time consuming.
Please let us see the end result.

Whew! For a minute or ten there I thought you meant a Spinning Wheel as used by weavers, rather than a Lotto Wheel...
... so I'm glad I double-checked before hitting the 'Post' button!

When I was looking after the vets at RSL care at their weekly morning activity time we made a chocolate wheel.
MDF wheel, 1/2" dowel for the spokes, a piece of old leather belt as the flapper, a bolt and 3 large plastic washers cut from an ice cream container for a bearing.
They had a lot of fun painting the pie sections and numbering it.
No photos sorry.
