    Default Fiddleback Jarrah

So i was milling up some salvage yard jarrah/karri for a workbench and found this curly jarrah. The curl runs all the way accross and the whole length of the board. My question is how comming is curl in jarrah? I see a bit in marri but not a lot in jarrah. Not sure if its too good for the face edge to my bench.

I remember some years ago we had a large pack of 300x50 jarrah to make stair treads and there was a bit of curly timber in there. It's not as common in jarrah as spotted or blue gum, but I wouldn't say it's rare

This is a chair I built a few years ago ..

The timber came from Derek Doak (The Timber Bloke). He always has some available.

Cant comment on how common it is but thanks for sharing. Being a WA guy myself I have a real soft spot for Jarrah.

I hope it wasn't cut up for that bench top.

I was going to comment that Derek seems to have no shortage of it, but he beat me to it!

I say to hell with it. Make that piece of curly stuff the front apron for the bench. Sure, you may be the only one who gets to appreciate it, but you certainly will, now, won't you.

    Cheers,
    Luke

The curl in that arm chair is amazin Derek. And i imagine a curly staircase would be impressive also. Last i saw Mr Doak i picked up a piece of curly tuart. Its not this piece in the picture but its from the same tree, mine is still rough.
