Default filling sap lines in timber for a table

New user, so may not have the system sorted out yet.

I am making a dining table using mountain ash with some beautiful sap lines and holes.

What is the best way to fill - I assume I use a rresin which I would stain with a dark stain?

Appreciate the secrets of the experts

    Hi Petere,

I'm far from an expert, but I recently built a hall table out of WA Marri, which also had many voids and sap lines.

I filled the voids with Wests Systems epoxy which I tinted black. I'm very happy with the results. I think black epoxy looks much more natural and beautiful, in my timber anyhow, than trying to match the colour of the wood.

You can see my table at the following thread - https://www.woodworkforums.com/f187/h...ckwood-145651/

I hope that helps. Good luck with your build.

    Cheers,
    John

    Default black filler

timbermate ebony putty would also be a choice. fill, let dry and sand. it will highlight the natural imperfections beautifully.
