Default Finer grade Paper for Random Orbital Sander

    Hi.

I bought a random orbital sander as they received wraps in the Bible, but when I asked my local hardware guy for some finer grades of paper he looked vacant & said that he only had the course graded paper.

I tried anoither shop, same result.

Can anyone advise of a website where fine grades of paper for random orbital sanders are sold please?

    TIA

Can you tell us more about the sander?
Is it a round pad? What diameter? Holes? How many?

What brand and what size is the ROS?

It only takes one drink to get me loaded. Trouble is, I can't remember if it's the thirteenth or fourteenth.

I recently bought 80, 180, 240 and 400 grit at Bunnings and was surprised at the selection.

You can also get some online at carbatec, timbecon, and ubeaut, probably others as well.

At one stage I was looking for fine grade papers for my ROS and my flexible head drill sanding pads. I ended up buying them from a auto paint supply shop (for the festool ROS) and cutting my own. I got up to 1500grit.

Mirca out of Finland is also producing wet sanding discs that can be used on a random orbit sander. They come in grits like 500, 1000, 2000 and 4000 ( this will produce a finish akin to a babies bum) These discs have a membrane in the middle that stops the water from getting to the sander

Triton sell up to 1200, while at Bunnings get yourself a hole punch and puch appropriate holes for dust extraction if required.

I can get reasonably fine sanding discs for my Festo 150 ROS at my local tool supplier which I would presume would also have access to various brands for various Random Orbital Sanders ,can often buy a mix of 50 discs for around $35.

Specialist tool shops offer more than just tools and are a handy means of providing the add-ons required for most tools.

I get mine a Gasweld, about half Bunnings prices and a bigger range of grits.
