    Smile Finishing Nails

    photo.jpg
I am looking for a light nail or similar for making craft looms. Threads will be continually being pulled over these nails, so need them to be uniform thickness and able to be fixed into ply without abrasions. Pic shows project using small nails, but would like something without head.
    Any ideas?

Maybe bamboo skewers as an alternative to metal? They're cheap as chips and wouldn't be too hard to round over their heads on a mechanical sander. Narrow brass rod also come to mind.

What Springwater said about the brass rod. Make it out of filler rod cut to short lengths and glued into pre drilled hole.

    OR

nip the heads off the nails after they have been driven. Use small bolt cutters or similar. You could smooth the cut ends with a die grinder etc.

WHat's this "filler" rod you speak of swk? Is it used for brasing? Where do you get from? Also thinking of the possibility of golf tees but I think they may taper

Yes, brasing rod. You can buy smaller packets of about 6 rods about 600mm long at most hardware places that sell welding consumables. Hopefully the bare stuff, not the ones pre coated with flux. Like these:
