I took this photo this morning before heading out for the day.

Still have to trim the dowels but at least it sort of looks like a stand.

Looking good Christos and so fast (sorry couldn't resist) I haven't read all the posts, are you using water resistant glue? (just in case you're fish have a water fight or something)

I have done a little more work with the top of the stand. As the top of MDF construction I was just going to drill this into the top of the stand. I did not think this throught as I should have secured the first piece to the stand and then do the torsion box construction. I have no real way of knowing where the screws are located and so might be drilling into a screw. So I change plan midway. and came up with this to stop the top from walking.
Did the groove with a router plane and cut plywood to stick into the slot.

Will secure this once the capping is complete for the edge of the top.

The holiday period has turned out to be great. Mainly not having to work long hours but also getting a chance to get to a better stage of getting this done.
The first photo is with the back panels secured in place with a couple of coats of Shellac.

This next one is with the top on and to prevent this from wondering used plywood in the grooves as can be seen in the next photo.

As this is just MDF I wanted to cover the exposed ends, so I made this to attach to the top. Just a basic L shape with dowels that fit into the top.

Originally I was going to do a 45 degree miter joint but for some reason I kept making a mess of the joint. So I came up with this idea.

Just three pieces of wood with a dowel stuck underneath that has a corresponding hole in the joint that locks the two pieces.
I am now at the stage of applying the final finish. So I moved this inside the house.
