I have brought what looks similar from Bunnings in the past they came in a pressed black steel box.

They we’re about $20 I think, but not hundred percent sure there.

I brought them knowing they were cheap, but being mostly in the smaller size, I viewed them has basically throw away consumables.

Yes they worked making holes in wood an metal.

    Cheers Matt.

I’m unsure how they tasted tho, Sorry.

    Cheers Matt.

Like Matt, I have bought similar sets not really expecting them to be much good other than for drilling holes in wood and also expecting to sharpen them out of the box (or packet in this case). The price at $3.95 (reduced from $21.49) is hard to believe, particularly as it includes shipping!

I wouldn't be expecting too much from them, but as to the " Fried Dough" description.....

"Fried dough"...the sound of regret when the eighth drill bit breaks making simple hole in Radiata Pine, also the sound the said drill bit makes at the moment of failure...

Thanks, Paul; I have edited my original post and included the price.

Temu has incredible prices - make Alibaba look rather expensive. Have never used them so no idea on their quality or reliability.

At the price not much to loose but the fact you get a handful of each size kind of says how good they are likely to be.

Agreed, the prices make you sit up and think; I looked through some of the other wide range of products associated with drilling and cutting. Probably just not for difficult or demanding conditions.

Should we push it, and organise a group buy, or have I crossed a rather thin grey line here.

Temu seems more focused on selling direct to individual customers than Alibaba's bulk numbers to wholesalers and retailers.

I've bought a few items from Temu and found them okay. I bought this more specialised adjustable router guide and it is at least as good as Timbecon and Carbatec would offer, if they had it. It is a decent jig for a very modest price, although the same item is on Temu for about two and half times the price from another source, so you need to shop carefully. It is far more accurate and versatile than I could have made from timber, and far, far cheaper than I could have made it for my labour time.

I'm not saying Temu items are all good quality as they're probably not. Temu lists a very nicely made alloy self centreing jig which looks identical with one I bought from another site to centre door latches, but which was out by about 1 mm. Perhaps like me you will still end up with it sitting in your 'Maybe I'll find a use for this one day' pile of failed experimental purchases.

As for the bulk cheap drill bits, I still have a nice steel box with a nice plastic tray of many sized supposedly titanium coated bits I bought from Bunnings about seven or eight years ago on the basis that they were so cheap it didn't matter if I drilled only one hole with each bit, plus I'd have a ready supply of replacements in the ute if I broke a good drill bit on site. This massive set of bits is short maybe a couple of dozen bits tried and thrown away in disgust, because they're poorly ground and crap metal and struggle to drill pine. I still have them only because maybe I'll find a use for them, or the box, one day.

True, I should have referenced Aliexpress, the retail arm of Alibaba.

At 3 cents a drill bit and you expect some sort of quality?

I've the perfect use for 'em... leaving 'em in plain view in my toolbox (along with a few Chaiwanese cardboardium cutting disks) while I lock my Suttons, etc. in the ute drawer.

I'm betting that the pixies will only nick one or two before moving on to better pickings.
I may be weird, but I'm saving up to become eccentric.
