    Default Garden edging project

I have this garden edging project in mind for sometime and now concentrating on gathering the facts. The size is 4m x 4m and I would like to make it with pine sleepers to look something like in the picture. I am considering sleeper size 3m or 2.4m (L) x 200mm (H) x 50mm (W). Few questions to the community here:

    1. are CCA C4 pine sleepers good for this job? (without going into debate about arsenic treatment)
    2. How to smooth the surface of top sleeper's (cap) and having rounded edges on outside only?
    3. finishing with the outdoor deck oil (tinted perhaps) will have the same look as in picture?

    Thanks in advance.

    1. Yes - this is what I made my vegie patch from and I'm still alive.

    2. Buy already dressed C4 pine treated timber but you'll have to round over the edge.

    3. Would not worry about applying any finish as with the sun and water it won't last.

Here are few more pictures from start until recent. Planters will be replaced with the glazed ones.

    Thumbs up

I love it. If you are going to replace the pots might I suggest a little shorter.

Thanks. Looks like we were on the same page. Here is the next phase underway:

Looks good - what did you use to tint the timber?

I used Merbau exterior decking oil.
Also the top one is actually merbau timber - 30mm thick. Below are pine timbers 50mm thick.
