Default How to glue UHMW plastics

I am looking to glue some pieces of UHMW plastic together ( as used in breadboards).

Can anyone please advise the best glues to use?
    regards,

    Hi Jill,

I am pretty sure that they are HDPE (high density polyethylene) and not UHMW. I am afraid your only choices are hot-air welding, or mechanical fastening (screws, bolts, rivets etc).

Gluing UHMW has been reported successfully using Locktite 401 and 770 primer.

For polyethylene, 3M make Adhesives, Tapes, Reclosable Fasteners & Fabricated Parts : 3M. This is reputed to be 'satisfactory'.

Another type here - HDPE Glue | Innerduct.com

From what I have read over the years, if you invent or discover something that really works you are likely to be rich shortly thereafter. The industrial solution is to weld it.

I've only been able to get the Loctite and primer to work in static, low load, room temp situations. We always weld our pieces whenever we go outside those domain.
