    It is a very nice bit of wood but I wont be getting in line to grab it at that price. However the person who does grab it will likely need this plane.

    Slab $19,000, plane $13,000, tree that it came from, priceless.

    I know that all wood now available in our country has to be ethically sourced but I do feel a sadness when an old tree like this hits the dirt.

    Sound good to me. Now to get someone to purchase a pen for the cost of material, finish, disposables and let's not forget the labour. This may be the one time that the material will be more than the labour?

    I originally saw the picture on facebook and maybe half the comments were questioning whether cutting this was the right thing to have down, and wanting to know it was from an ethical source.

    There was definitely a possible analogy to a guy/girl kneeling next to the giraffe they just shot - depending on how it was sourced.
