Default Hardware Stores China ?

I originally posted in the pen turning subsection a similar question but more to do with pen parts. I guess I should have posted here with a general question.

I am wanting to know of any hardware stores in China that would be nice to visit for hand tools or parts.

Currently I am located in Langfang which is south of Beijing, about 45 mins drive. I will be traveling around a little so anything that people are aware of would be helpful.

Thank you

Hi Christos,

If you're heading to Shanghai take a walk down East Beijing Road. It runs parallel to Nanjing Road, a few streets over. There's plenty of tool/hardware/engineering supply shops along there.

I was there in October last year and picked up a couple of Mujifang planes, plane blades, a set of verniers and a few other small things. Even if you don't buy anything it's an interesting place to spend a couple of hours.

Cheers
JF

Hi Christos
Could you give a report of your visit to these Tool Shops and maybe tell us (straight from the horse's mouth) if China has as good a quality product as we are believing only "western countries" have.
I for one am quick to poo poo anything from China thinking that it would have to "suss" at the least. (Really with out any knowledge )
It would be good to find out for sure if Chinese products can do it or not.
