    Frak!
Did I just make a mistake getting HDPE instead of UHMW?

One last go at mitres using the Makita DSCMS.

    This is the eighth go.

    Still not perfect.

    Had enough for the day.

Hope the MitreSet gets here soon.

Updated the miter gauge with a new HDPE track bar
to fit the miter slot better than the old one.

Tried the tape on the old one but wouldn't work.

Barry, have you ever zero'd your mitre gauge using the 5 cut method?
here is William Ng demonstrating the method with a table saw sled https://wnwoodworkingschool.com/5-cu...ross-cut-sled/
and the same process in words http://valleywoodworkers.org/wp2/wp-...thodSquare.pdf

I suspect you will need to before you can use the Miterset

Cut a fraction longer then use a shooting board.

    Have already done.

    Too much mucking about.
Every time I want to use it I have to go thru those steps.

Not sure how this fits into the miterset.
Unless I'm checking the miterset accuracy.

Tune your scms angle. It’s adjustable on my Makita

    Nope. All good.
    Slight build up.
    But easily cleaned.

Might be my melamine 100 tooth blade.

Don't know if UHMW will have a slight build up or not.

    It's a Makita SCMS?
on mine the pre-sets are fixed, and you adjust the rear fence to get them spot on

    Been there.
    Done that.

You can only zero the fence to 90°.
    The presets are fixed.
    You can't move them.
My 45° is off on both sides.
    It doesn't take much.
By much I mean almost nothing at all.

First thing this morning with a fresh mind I tried stacking the four sides so I only had two cuts instead of 8.
    Still not spot on.
Then tried to move .1° and over shot.
So I can't get it spot on.

    WooHoo!
The MiterSet arrived early this morning. So glad I didn't have to worry the entire day about it.

Had to shim off .5mm off the bottom 5mm of one side of the mitre track runner to fit into the Miterset.

Then found my work pieces were too short and needed a miter gauge with a backing fence.
So switched to the Incra v120 that did.

    IMG_0875.jpg

This is the gauge setting on the Incra v120 for 45° on the MiterSet.
    It's off.

But it might be that my backing fence is thicker at one end than the other.
Reflecting back to the Incra v120 notches.
    IMG_0876.jpg

This is the result of my first go on the table saw using the Incra v120 set with the MiterSet.
    IMG_0877.jpg

    Closest I've been so far.

The fence method is documented but I believe, but don’t quote me , that you can make a small adjustment on the presets by moving the Locking pin mounting. It came up in conversation quite some time ago.
Anyway, unless you lock the turntable, there is a slight amount of movement in the turntable so I wouldn’t be relying on it for 1/2 degree accuracy.

Lappa, are you posting about the SCMS?

    The presets are fixed.

No matter how much you turn the turret,
    if I can,
The presets move the same way.
    Thanks,
