Lightbulb Help in identifying this type of timber please

    Hello all.

I have a number of craftsman packs of this type of timber but I cm unsure which type of timber it is. The guy I got it off thought it was Tasmanian Blackwood, but it looks too light when compared to those I found on Dr Google. Any help would be appreciated.

    Cheers!

He's half right. It's almost certainly from Tassie, and it's black heart sassafrass.
    Still a good score.

Could be Sassafras, that might be where the Tasmanian connection comes from. The Poplar that Masters used to sell also looks similar.
    Whoops, beat me to it.
