    Default Hey, this works!!

All probably a bit of old hat, for there is nothing new under the sun, but it is the first time I have tried this and the finish is sensational.

Dearly beloved, who makes cards etc, has been lobbying for a work area for some time, so cupboards with a sit down work area was the plan. Cupboards are pine and the top is laminated hardwood.

    And so to the finish.

All was sanded only to 400 and then on went 10 coats of water based clear, no sanding between, just one on top of the other.

    Sanding procedure was:

    1. 120 - to the point where you could not see any shiny spots on the sanded surface, then
    2. 240
    3. 400
    4. 800
    5. 1200
    6. 2000

At this stage the surface was beautiful & smooth, and then the surface was machine buffed with an automotive cut and polish compound then final buffing with lambswool.

The finished result is so good I'm almost jealous of myself.

Just thought I'd share it with you

    Hey Colin,

Sounds really nice but the PICS don't do it Justice, or is it just My Monitor??

Will try to get some pics, but it is a bit of trick getting a good result from a horizontal polished surface
