You'll like the Silver Ash. I built a coffee table out of it last year that we use every day and love:
Silver Ash Mid-Century Coffee Table
I comment a bit on the wood at the end and I guess, to be fair, my review isn't glowing, but it should be noted that I work mostly by hand, I avoid heavy sanding, and I'm also just kind of whiny when it comes to wood that doesn't do exactly what I tell it to! End of the day, it's a great, workable, and very pretty wood. As you said, it would contrast well with something, but, as I hope my table shows, it's also capable of standing alone.
Glad you got some good stuff!
Cheers,
Luke

I was at the Expo yesterday and incorrectly assumed that someone would post some photos of the event and maybe Wootha Prize entries. However, no one has done it yet and I am disappointed that I did not get some photos to share with you interstate guys. There were lots of slabbed timber for sale including huge red cedar ones but the slab that really caught my eye was a coachwood one with beautiful grain. Carbatec and Arbortech were among the exhibitors. Guilio Marcalongo was at the Vermec stand demonstrating woodturning; he is great to watch. Really there was something for everyone.

Good move Dave. Under your house in the crawlspace is prolly not ideal. can you rig some form of rack in the shed? Booker rod, nuts, washers and a couple of crossmembers may be adequate.
I saw you and your lovely wife Saturday but I was otherwise distracted.
Cheers

Hi Dave
I was there on Sunday and got a lot of information and tips re finishing etc. By the way C&L Tools had all the Titebond Products and regarding your little fittings for boxes you might want to give the following a go: Box Makers Brassware - Veneer Inlay you probably just missed them which is not hard to do with over 110 stalls
kind regards Carl
